i wish i had your editing class for lunch

With over a week left to finish bringing the project together, and my partner still working on developing the animation, I'll admit I took my foot off the gas a bit. I was running into 2 main difficulties that hindered my progress even more:

  1. Getting the videos from my phone to my computer
I would normally rely on OneDrive to get my videos uploaded and then I would be able to just download them to my computer from there, but this was not working for some reason so I had to buy some storage on Google Drive and them get the videos on my computer that way.

      2. GETTING MY COMPUTER TO RUN PREMIERE PRO
This has been an issue I've been dealing with since AS level, but my computer is essentially a bucket of bolts. I had taken a break from video editing for a while and I had forgotten this but it did not waste any time reminding me. The day I started editing my documentary Premiere crashed like 7 times. I ended up going to best buy to buy an SSD out of pure desperation, and it actually did help a little, and I was at least able to edit without losing all my progress.
There was one answer of Dr. Laz's to one of my questions where he referred to his students as "Angels in disguise" and this really stuck with me after I finished filming. I knew I needed to use this part as more than just an answer to a question because it seemed too important, so I decided it would be best served as a transition from my research into the rest of the documentary about Dr. Laz and his class. When in the car with my father, I looked up to the sky and it just looked cinematic, almost like it was begging to be in my documentary. I took a video for a few seconds with my phone facing up from the dashboard so it was less easy to tell I was filming from the inside of a car.
After putting this into my piece I decided it would also be a good place to insert the title of the documentary, but I wanted to do so in a stylized manner, and I've always loved the typewriter effect where you can see words being typed out as they display on screen, so I learned how to use this by watching a quick YouTube video.

I know it comes off as super stylized but I think its super aesthetically pleasing and fit the overall sentimental tone of this particular sequence.

I also had the chance to show my work to my instructor, specifically my interview framing, in which I somehow didn't realize until hearing it from someone else that the framing was atrocious.
It's pretty bad
Luckily, through zooming in and cropping in Adobe Premiere Pro I was able to make a huge improvement to the interview framing to the point where it was no longer atrocious.
Crappy framing

Not crappy framing

Part of my interview centered around how Dr. Laz first got into music and I realized I didn't really have a whole lot of b-roll that made sense to use over this part, so I figured more static b-roll was the move so I then reached out to him and got some cool pictures to put key frames over.

My favorite part of all video pieces I create is always selecting the right music to use. It's really where the whole thing comes to life. Andrew, my partner, told me he would be grounded for a few days so I tasked him with finding some music to implement.
I was a huge fan of this one as it set a really chill tone that did not interfere on the content of the documentary, it just felt super warm - like a blanket - which is exactly what I think my doc needed in terms of music. I ultimately elected to not use it throughout the whole thing as I didn't wanna to get redundant because the track itself is kind of monotonous in nature. However, I think it was a really nice touch in the beginning and end. Also since the track was kinda short I had to do some chopping to carry it on for as long as I needed.
When I first heard this track I knew it would be perfect to include under Andrew's animation and my V.O. once it was done.

Speaking of, once Andrew sent me the animation, I decided that it made the most sense to serve as a transition from my first voiceover with primarily research and the like to Dr. Laz's voiceover about angels in disguise.
